Full Body Functional Capacity Evaluation
Comprehensive, objective whole-body work-capacity testing — reported in 48 hours.
What a Full Body FCE evaluates
A Full Body Functional Capacity Evaluation is a comprehensive, standardized assessment of an individual’s whole-body work capacity. It objectively measures what a person can safely and reliably do and maps those abilities to the physical demands of a target job — or to U.S. Department of Labor physical-demand levels (Sedentary through Very Heavy). It is the right evaluation for most general return-to-work, workers’ compensation, and disability questions.
- Lifting capacity (floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder, overhead)
- Carrying capacity
- Pushing and pulling force
- Standing, walking, and sitting tolerance
- Positional and postural tolerances (bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling)
- Material handling and repetitive activity
- Consistency of effort throughout the evaluation
Who it’s for
Full Body FCEs are relied upon by attorneys, physicians, employers, case managers, and insurance carriers across Charlotte, Concord, Huntersville, Matthews, and Gastonia for workers’ compensation cases, disability determinations, return-to-work and fit-for-duty decisions, litigation support, and vocational planning. The evaluation produces an independent, objective record of function that is designed to support medicolegal review.
For claims focused on the hand, wrist, elbow, or shoulder, consider the Upper Extremity FCE, a focused evaluation performed by a COMT-UE certified occupational therapist.
What to expect
The evaluation takes 4–6 hours in a single appointment at our Charlotte office. Clients wear comfortable workout clothes and closed-toe athletic shoes and bring water and snacks. A detailed, objective written report is delivered within 48 hours.
